SMC Molds Structure
The SMC compression molds consist of two parts, the top die and bottom die. The two parts close and the SMC raw material is melt with high temperature, then fill all cavity parts. After the material shaped, the mold opens and the product will be ejected by lift-out attachment. The structure including:

SMC Molds Classifications
1. According to the connection type between mold and press machine
* Moving type mold
The mold won't be fixed on the press machine, in general, the mold demolding, feeding, closing, and product taken-out are all proceeded out the machine. There is no heating system on mold. So this type of mold used to process small size product with little quantity. The structure of this mold is simple and cheap with a short manufacturing period. But this mold should use manual operation and the production efficiency is low.
* Fix type mold
The mold needs to be fixed on the press machine and matched with the heating system. All process is worked on the machine. This kind of mold has long mold life and be used for large size products with mass production.
* Semi-fix type mold
This kind of mold is the combination of above two molds, in general, the top die will be fixed on the press machine and bottom die can be moved along the guide rail, and located with located block.
2. According to parting surface features
The function of the parting surface is can taking product out from mold or can satisfy the need for air venting.
*Horizontal parting line, means the parting surface is parallel to the press machine working table-board.
*Vertical parting line, means the parting surface is perpendicular to the press machine working table-board.
*Multiple parting lines, means the parting surface can be both parallel or perpendicular to the press machine working table-board.
3. According to the up and bottom part closing form
* Open-type mold, there is no feeding room of this mold. This structure of mold is simple, cost-less, durable, and easy for demoulding.
